DEXTER's in! Team Case has been selected by DARPA as one of 36 semi-finalists in the 2007 Urban Challenge (PDF). Video and slides from DARPA Director Dr. Tony Tether's announcement are available for RealPlayer or Windows Media Player.
Case Western Reserve University is responding to DARPA's 2007 Grand Challenge to create a full-sized vehicle capable of autonomous operation through an urban environment, interacting with live traffic. Applications will include robotic military vehicles, future industrial, commercial and consumer vehicle automation and safety systems, and advanced controls for a variety of future intelligent systems. Case has assembled an initial core of industrial and alumnæ sponsors, an exceptional robotic vehicle, and a technical team of over 50 members, comprised of Case faculty and students and industrial collaborators. We are actively seeking sponsors and donations from alumni and friends interested in being part of this exciting project.
